PAN Parks Foundation (PPF) chose Bulgaria for launching its 10th Anniversary
celebration campaign because of its exceptional biodiversity, commitment
to eco-tourism and because it is the first country in Europe with two
parks in the PAN Parks family. 2007 PAN Parks Conference was held in the
vicinity of Rila National Park in the area of Razlog.
The Conference’s leading goal was to support wilderness conservation
through improving regional identity. The sub-themes were: product development
and marketing; project development and fundraising; networking between
PAN Parks partners.
More than 100 participants from more than 20 European countries: representatives
of the 9 parks from the network from Finland, Georgia, Italy, Poland,
Romania, Russia, Sweden, and Bulgaria, tourism service providers from
the regions of the parks, tour operators and journalists participated
in the annual meeting.
There were number of activities during the Europe Wilderness Days 2007
organized with the Local PAN Parks group (LPPG) for Rila NP and the first
certified business partners:
Exhibition
of local arts, crafts, souvenirs from around the Rila and the Central
Balkan National Parks.
Four one
day field trips: The Lord of the Mountain (Belitsa); Peri Vollas Horse
Back Riding (Bachevo village, Razlog); The Rila Mountain Beauty Primrose
trail (Dobarsko) and Rila Monastery
The Official
Ceremony awarding Rila NP and first Rila NP business partners with PAN
Parks Certificates. PAN Parks Certificates received also other parks and
partners in the PAN Parks network.
Our responsibilities included:
Research
on possible venues around Rila NP for the Conference in coordination with
Rila NP Directorate and their business partners;
Communication
with the selected venue on organization of the event and fulfilling the
requirements of the client;
Coordination
with PAN Parks, Ministry of Environment and Waters, State Agency of Tourism,
Rila NP;
Support to
PPF for the development of the Conference program, list of invitees, invitation
letters;
Coordination
and organization of the exhibition of local crafts and the field trips
with the LPPG;
Organization
of the transfers of the participants and transport during the field trips;
Development
and implementation of a media campaign plan;
Organization
of the Awarding ceremony and the Farwell Party of the Conference.
