The Project involved the development of the National Biodiversity Conservation
Action Plan 2005-2010. This major national document (required by the National
Biodiversity Conservation Strategy) provides direction and allocates budgets
for all activities in the field of nature conservation. After completion
of the Plan it was approved by the Council of ministers of Bulgaria and
became part of the national strategic administrative documents in the
field of nature conservation.
Our team responsibilities included: Organizing and managing a series
of workshops, interviews and consultations with all the parties involved
(this included the Ministry of Environment and Waters, the Ministry of
Agriculture and Forests, national and nature park directorates, various
local authorities, ecotourism and nature conservation NGOs, academic institutions,
and other state agencies); Coordinating collected information and activity
proposals from all participating parties; summarizing and analyzing the
various proposals; and developing parts of the final document.
