Client: Directorate of Strandja Nature Park

The farmer’s handbook “How to Use Agricultural Land in Strandja Sustainably, While Preserving Reptile, Bird and Small Mammal Species?” was created as part of the “Sustainable Management and Organisation of Strandja Nature Park” project, financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria, through Operational Programme “Environment (2007-2013).

Experts from the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia participated in the creation of the manual, by providing texts and copyrighted photographs. The participation of the Museum was led by the zoologist-explorer, biology, bat ecology, amphibian and reptile expert - Boyan Petrov.

The book contains natural habitats and animal species, present in Strandja, which are rare in Bulgaria, Europe and the rest of the world. The recommended agricultural practices will be useful for the sustainable management of the described habitats in Nature Park Strandja and the country as a whole. The handbook is richly illustrated with photographs, in order to serve in the identification of the described habitats and the birds, reptiles and small mammals, which inhabit them.

You can download or flip through the handbook here.
