Achieving Biodiversity Conservation through Creation and Effective Management of Protected Areas and Mainstreaming Biodiversity into Land Use Planning

Funded by: GEF (Global Environment Facility) and implemented by UNEP (UN Environment Program) and MOEPP (Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning of Macedonia)

Main Activities:
The Project includes activities focusing on the sustainable management of the Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs). We are to pass on knowledge and experience of NTFPs conservation, sustainable management and use from Bulgaria to the Macedonian institutions and experts, thus contributing to the following activities:
Socio-economic survey;
Institutional provision of the conservation and sustainable use of the NTFPs resources;
Resources assessment and mapping of economically important NTF species in pilot regions;
Defining quotas for sustainable harvesting of the selected NTF species;
Monitoring of the selected NTF species resources and collection process;
Demonstration of the Bulgarian experience in the management of NTFPs to Macedonian stakeholders.
